John Guttilla is the director of the RMSBG Financial Services Department and co-manages the RMSBG Real Estate Services Group. He has performed detailed tax structuring analyses relating to acquisitions and dispositions of real estate. His expertise in the real estate field includes public and private syndicates, commercial and residential developers, management companies, and hotels.
John is also actively involved in tax planning and compliance for a wide range of industries including entertainment, brokerage, manufacturing, printing, restaurant, and construction.
Professional Highlights:
- Managing the real estate tax certiorari audit practice of the firm, which consists of providing these services to large REIT's and individual commercial and residential property owners.
- Overseeing the re-creation of financial records of a WTC based brokerage firm after 9/11
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing business processes for companies, from manual controls and work-flow through computer systems implementation.
- Elected a director of Orchids Paper Products Company (AMEX) and member of their audit committee
John is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York Society of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has been awarded the AICPA Certificate of Educational Achievement in Business Valuation and has passed the NASD Series 27 Examination for Financial and Operations Principals. He is a member of the New York State Society Stock Brokerage and Real Estate Committees.
John holds a BS degree in Accounting from Fordham University and a Masters in Taxation from St. John's University. Prior to joining RMSBG in 1988, John was in the tax departments of Kenneth Leventhal & Company and Arthur Young & Company.
